Cardio Exercises at Home Without Equipment

Working out at home has its benefits. It’s convenient, it’s excellent if you are just starting out, and it’s your own personal space. However, at home workouts also have two major drawbacks. First, there is a very limited amount of equipment you can use. Second, there is a limited level of exercise intensity that can be achieved to make sure you are reaching your fitness goals.

In this article, I will give you a variety of at home cardio exercises that do not require any equipment, and I will also share how to make these exercises more effective so you can lose weight faster.

1. Marching In Place, Low Impact Cardio Exercise

Marching in place is an excellent exercise for beginners and those who need a low impact cardio exercise option. You can burn even more fat by increasing your speed, lifting your knees higher, and including more vigorous reciprocal arms swings.

2. Jogging In Place, Low Impact Cardio

Jogging in place is another great exercise option for beginners and those who have knee joint problems. It is a touch more vigorous than marching in place, but is a great way to use either as a warm up or stand alone cardio exercise. The intensity can be increased by jogging a little bit faster and lifting your knees higher.

3. Cross Punch, Fun Cardio Exercise

Cross punch is a fun cardio exercise that you can do at home. As we all know, boxing drills are excellent at giving you a good sweat and fast charging your weight loss. You can try adding some ankle weights onto your wrists or grabbing some light dumbbells to burn some extra calories.

4. Cardio Skater Squats, Full Body Cardio Exercise

Skater squats is my signature exercise that I had come up with myself (yes, I can claim it as my own creation due to not being able to find the same or a similar exercise anywhere online). Skater squats combine a partial squat with reciprocal arm swing and shoulder flexion. It is super fun, it challenges your coordination, and it will definitely get your heart rate up.

5. Cross Knee Plank, Core Cardio Exercise

Cross knee plank is a great cardio exercise that targets not only your core, but also your arms and legs. It is pretty much a full body cardio exercise. You can also use it as a warm up before jumping into an abs workout.

6. Jumping Jack Variation, Upper and Lower Body Cardio

This jumping jack variation is not only a cardio exercise but it will also challenge your coordination and awaken your nervous system. Combining the classic shoulder abduction with shoulder flexion will ensure you are working out the different parts of your shoulders and thus burn you some extra calories.

7. Butt Kicks, Lower Body Cardio

Butt kicks is a classic track and field warm up drill, but can be easily used as either a cardio or a warm up exercise. Also, there is a limited number of hamstring exercises that can be done at home, thus oftentimes leaving hamstrings overlooked in home workouts. Add this exercise to your cardio routine to make sure you don’t neglect your hamstrings. Make sure to stretch your hamstring muscles before.

8. Plank Jacks, Abs Cardio Exercise

Plank jacks is a great core cardio exercise, and it can be used as a standalone abs exercise as well.

9. Step Touch Exercise, Low Impact Cardio Exercise

Step touch exercise is an excellent cardio exercise for people at all levels of fitness. However, it is a great low impact option, and it can burn even more fat if you keep your hands elevated behind your head.

10. Running In Place Cardio, Fat Burning Cardio at Home

Running in place is one of the ultimate weight loss cardio exercises for home workouts. You can even try sprinting in place to get the most out of it if you are further down your fitness journey.
